Ingrid Kallick

Ingrid Kallick is an artist and writer living in the Midwest.

Imagine the sound of soft rain in a forest, the scent of mint as you walk under the trees, and the call of a hawk. The other realms are always there, just beyond the next step. This place exists in a dream, in a book, and in the day-to-day world, simultaneously. It is outside of time, at the crossroads of memory and folklore. Ingrid’s art comes from this place.

Her work has appeared in Cricket Magazine, Communication Arts, Spectrum, Scientific American, the cover of Science, in murals, stage sets, scientific visualization and print. In 2017, her illustration for the picture book Two Trolls Tales from Norway was featured at the Bologna Book Fair. Her covers for Cricket Magazine received the Magazine Merit Award from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in 2011 and 2015. She received a Bronze Award from the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles in 2015, and her "Frost Dragon" image won the Chesley Award for Magazine Cover in 2018.

Current projects include book covers, children’s illustration and manuscripts, theater posters, and a series of personal work about the mutability of form.
